Change My School is a competition, but it’s also a place to share your ideas and experiences. You are free to create your videos with all the creativity or conviction you wish. Your video doesn’t have to be revolutionary or professionally produced. If it means something to you, chances are it will mean something to other people, too.

Who can submit videos?

Anyone can submit videos to Change My School. You can be a student, teacher, volunteer, or a filmmaker who has a story to share. Please note that if you submit a video and you are not currently enrolled in a school the $1,000 will be awarded to the school of your choice.

How it Works

Each month during the school year, from September through June, anyone will be able to submit videos to Change My School. Voting will be open during the last two weeks of each month, and the videos with the highest number of votes in the elementary (grades K-5), middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12) categories will win. The winning person will select a school to be awarded $1,000 from Change My School (please see official rules for more details).

Please note you may upload as many videos as you like and there is no limit to how many times a person may win.

In order to participate you must create an account to upload a video. If you are under 13 you will need your parent or guardian to provide verifiable consent for you to upload videos to the website (please see privacy policy for more details).

The months of July and August are reserved for recent high school graduates who are attending a college or university. The top three videos with the highest number votes in July and August will receive $1,000. We know how expensive college can be, so this will be a great opportunity for six students to earn extra funds for freshman year. The money earned from these two months will go directly to the students and not to their school.

What types of videos should I upload?

We want you to upload videos that are important and meaningful to you. Do you have a video of a science experiment or an inspiring class project? How about a video of your halfpipe tricks on your snowboard? Maybe you created an education documentary and you are looking for an audience to see it? Or perhaps you made the winning catch at your football game and caught it on camera? We want you to be as creative and open with your videos as possible.

What are the video requirements?

The videos must be a minimum of 30 seconds and a maximum of 10 minutes and consist of original content. The subject matter must be appropriate for all viewing audiences and cannot contain any copyrighted material (please see terms of use for more details). All of the videos will be screened for content prior to being uploaded. Multiple videos are permitted per student or teacher, but each video must be submitted individually.

• Dimensions: Videos should be submitted at a size no larger than 600px in width.
• File Size: The maximum file size for videos you upload is 2 GB.
• Acceptable Formats: supported video formats.

When do I upload my video?

All videos must be uploaded by midnight (PST) of the 15^th of the month to be eligible for that month’s voting period. Voting will begin on the 16^th of every month and end on the last day of the month at midnight (PST).

Who can vote for my video?

Anyone can vote for the videos during the voting period! You can cast one vote per video per day during the voting period. The winning videos will be announced on the first day of the following month.

What can I do with the $1,000?

The $1,000 prizes will be given to the winning schools with the stipulation that the video winners will have the opportunity to suggest how those funds are spent (please see official rules for more details). All ideas must be approved by your school. We plan to follow up with each school to document the use of the $1,000.

Like the videos you upload we want you to be as creative and open as possible when it comes to your ideas for using the $1,000 to make your school a better place. Here are several suggestions:

• iPad for your classroom or library
• Books, projects, or supplies for your classroom
• Athletic equipment for your sports team
• Field trip for students
